Lazy River South in La Pine - A Hidden Gem
Captivated
As I was driving to Lazy River South for the first time, I was immediately captivated by the mountain views and the natural beauty that surrounds the area. The curvy, yet smooth roads took me through sights of forests, valleys, river views, and homes of all shapes and sizes. It is a very pretty and enjoyable drive.
Where in the world is it?
This might just be that hidden gem in Central Oregon you may have never heard about. Located just North of La Pine, there's just one way in and one way out. But don't worry, there's this cute sign to point the way.
It's just a few minutes drive to La Pine restaurants and stores, about 15 minutes to Sunriver, and 30 minutes to Bend. Here you can be close enough to the things you need, yet still get that privacy and nature feeling you crave.
This laid back neighborhood has a mixture of stick built and manufactured homes, some nestled in trees and some in more open spaces, but all properties have plenty of space to sprawl out, store your toys, start a hobby or do projects, or just relax in the nature around you.
The Amenities
If you have never heard of Quail Run Golf Course, you must! This 18-hole, championship golf course is nestled in the trees, surrounded by the Central Oregon beauty you expect. So if golfing is your thing, living in Lazy River South would give you quick and easy access so you can practice your swing anytime.
But I don't play golf...
Well, perhaps you're into fishing or floating the river more? The neighborhood is located right next to Little Deschutes River and has access for all homeowners, despite whether you live right on the river or not.
On those warm sunny days, this is a perfect spot to cool down or let the dogs splash. As the name implies, it is a "lazy" river, so don't expect a ton of rapids here.
More to do
There is so much to do when living so close to beautiful outdoor destinations. La Pine State Park is just down the road, as well as tons of camping and hiking, including some local favorites like Paulina and East Lake, which are just a 25 minute drive.
But really, if you live out here, you might not even feel the need to go camping, as most properties have large lots, so you can hang up a hamock in the back yard and just enjoy.
Just check out this spacious backyard from one of my latest property listings. Can you say "RE-LAX-ATION!"
